DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson women's soccer head coach Greg Ashton announced today that assistant coach Adam Denton has been promoted to associate head coach of the program.
Denton enters his fourth year with the program for the 2016 season and is the first to earn the "associate" title in the program's 27-year history. He has helped the Wildcats transition into the Atlantic 10 as they enter their third year in the league after a 20-year run in the Southern Conference.
"I am thrilled that Adam has been promoted to a position of associate head coach ," said Ashton, who will be entering his 13th season at the helm of the Wildcats for the upcoming season. "He has made a tremendous contribution over the past three years in all areas of the program. He is a tireless recruiter, who has learned how to identify and yield terrific young women who understand what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at Davidson. I look forward to Adam helping lead the program as we continue to adjust to the rigors of the A-10 Conference."
"I would like to thank Greg, Athletic Director Jim Murphy and all the members of the Athletic administration for this opportunity," said Denton. "I feel very privileged to become the associate head coach of the Women's Soccer Program here at Davidson College. When I arrived at Davidson, I was welcomed as part of the Athletic staff and immediately felt at home. Working with coach Ashton during my time here has been very impactful in my personal growth within the college game. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to recruit and develop the student-athletes that we have at Davidson."
The Wildcats will gear up for their 2016 season with an exhibition game at home against Radford, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. The season officially gets underway with a pair of home contests at Alumni Stadium over the weekend of Aug. 19-21 when Campbell and Appalachian State visit for 7:30 and 2 p.m. games.
