David Sargent Earns Second All-America Scholar Honor

DAVIDSON, N.C. – For the second straight season, David Sargnet of the Davidson men's golf team has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
A two-time all-conference and all-academic performer in the Atlantic 10, Sargent recently graduated with a 3.439 grade point average in mathematics.
A native of nearby Cornelius, he led the Wildcats with a 74.64 stroke average in 2015-16, which included five rounds of par or better.
For his career, Sargent finished with a 75.19 stroke average in 34 events and 93 total rounds.
Since 1997, 13 Wildcats have received this honor, including Sargent, Todd Eckstein, Tim Dillon, Alex Knoll, Steve Mayo and John Skeadas, all of which earned the distinction twice.
