DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the third time in the past four years, Davidson senior Emma Sissman of the women's lacrosse team was named to Jewish Sports Review Women's College All-America Lacrosse Team for 2016 in the July/August edition of the Jewish Sports Review.
Sissman, who graduated this May, was one of the Wildcats' top players and left with her name atop a few of the 'Cats' record books. An All-Big South First Team pick in 2014 and the team's MVP this past Spring, Sissman ended her career as the program's all-time leader in draw controls with 237, while holding the single season mark with 75 set in 2014. She also leaves Davidson ranked in the record books top-10 in goals (133- tied for fourth) and points (153- eighth).
This past season, the Baltimore, Md., native, paced the Wildcats' offense in final season with team highs of 36 goals (10th in the A-10) and 43 points, while dishing out a career-best seven assists. Sissman also hauled in a team-high 42 draw controls. She started all 17 games this year and ended her career starting all but five of her 70 total games played.
The forward tallied nine multi-goal games on the year, finishing her career with a total of 38. Sissman also recorded at least one point in 16 of the 17 games, while scoring at least one goal in the first 13 games of the season.
Sissman started the season with four and five-goal outings against Virginia Tech and Kennesaw State in the first two games of the year, with the five-goal outburst ending up being a season-high. She registered a season-high six points on four goals and a personal-best tying two assists in a win at home vs. VCU. Four times Sissman recorded at least five points in a game. On the season, she tallied a pair of game-winners, including the winning goal in a 9-8 triumph at home vs. La Salle, April 1.
Other Wildcats to earn Jewish All-America honors recently are Charlie Reiter (2009, men's soccer), Jake Cohen (2011, men's basketball) and Valeriy Sviderskiy (2013, men's soccer).
Davidson finished with an 8-9 overall record and reached the Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championship for the first time with a 5-4 league record. Its season ended with a 10-7 defeat to Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals.
