
Beeker Selected by Twins in 33rd Round of MLB Draft

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson's Clark Beeker was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 33rd round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft on Saturday.
A native of Lexington, N.C., Beeker finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and a 1.94 ERA, including a 1.73 in conference play. The 6-3 right-hander allowed just 23 earned runs in a conference-best 106.2 innings pitched, while ranking sixth in the nation with six complete games. Beeker also recorded 70 strikeouts and two complete-game shutouts.
A recipient of the T. Henry Wilson Baseball Scholarship, Beeker is the 23rd Wildcat to be drafted and the 10th under head coach Dick Cooke, who just completed his 26th season at the helm.
Davidson, which advanced to its first conference championship in school history, concluded the 2016 season with a 28-26 record, marking the third consecutive 28-plus-win season for the Wildcats.
