
Brewster Claims Title as Davidson Wraps Up Day One of A-10s

FAIRFAX, Va. – Led by an individual victory for Will Brewster in the 10,000, the Davidson men's track and field team had a strong showing on the first day of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Brewster raced to the top of the podium in the lengthy 10,000 with a time of 30:22.80, outkicking second place finisher Grayson Morgan (30:29.35) to secure the title. It's the second A-10 individual crown for the Grayslake, Ill., native, who won the 5,000 at the indoor championships.
In addition to Brewster's individual title, Davidson posted several top-10 finishes.
Daniel Samet earned a spot on the podium with a third-place finish in the 10,000. The senior finished in a season-best 30:33.08.
In the first event of the championship, Charles Rappe and Sean Caveney registered qualifying times in the 110 hurdles. Rappe crossed the line first with a time of 15.25 to take sixth overall. Sean Caveney wasn't far behind, stopping the clock at 15.48 to earn seventh.
Later in the day, Rappe qualified for the finals in the 400 hurdles. The senior earned a trip to the finals after crossing the line in 54.17 to take seventh overall.
Jacob Hostetler turned in strong performances in the 400 and the 200, earning a spot in the finals for both events tomorrow. Hostetler registered a fifth-place finish in 400 with a time of 48.15, and eighth in the 200 after stopping the clock at 21.79.
Xzavier Killings took sixth in the long jump. The senior registered a jump of 22-11.25. Will Jones and Aaron Forburger took 12th and 13th place, respectively in the 3,000 steeplechase. Jones clocked a 9:42.43, while Forburger finished in 9:45.47.
Davidson finished with 19 points to conclude day one in sixth-place.
The Wildcats return to action tomorrow with events beginning at 8:45 a.m.
