
Samet Garners A-10 Academic Honors for Second Time

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second year in a row, Daniel Samet was named to the men's outdoor track & field Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, as announced today by the league office.
The senior, who also earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team during indoor track season, was one of 10 student-athletes to earn honors on the academic team. Athletes are eligible for the all-academic team if they earn a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and must be a starter or important reserve.
Hailing from Washington, D.C., Samet competed in the 10,000-meter and the 5,000-meter at the A-10 Championships. The senior had a nice finish to his career at the championships, earning a third-place finish in the 10,000 with a season-fast time of 30:33.08. He also ran in the 5,000, coming in 11th with a time of 15:12.18.
Samet also excelled in the classroom, graduating this May with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and French Studies and a grade point average of 3.84.
