DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore goalie Rose Woolson picked up her second weekly award this year when she was named the women's lacrosse Atlantic 10 Defender of the Week, as announced by the league office recently.
Woolson was Davidson's first player of the week award winner this year when she earned the same honor, March 14.
The Baltimore, Md., native went 2-0 between the pipes, leading Davidson to league wins over VCU and Richmond this past weekend in the 'Cats' final two home games of the regular season. She stopped 16 shots, picked up eight groundballs, while improving her record to 6-4 and finishing with a 6.74 GAA.
The sophomore came up with three saves and four groundballs in almost 47 minutes of action during an easy 19-9 win versus VCU. She then played an outstanding game against Richmond, recording 13 saves and allowing just five goals over 60 minutes and adding another four groundballs in a 6-5 win.
The sophomore currently tops the league in save percentage at .529 and is second in saves per game at 8.10 (81 total).
The 'Cats (7-6, 4-2) have three key A-10 games left against Duquesne, St. Bonaventure and No. 19 UMass, with all three on the road to close out the regular season, April 22-24 & 30.
