DAVIDSON, N.C. – A total of 12 Davidson varsity athletic teams have received Division I Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA, as announced Wednesday.
The NCAA recognized more than 1,000 Division I sports teams from across the country for their exceptional work in the classroom as part of the NCAA's Academic Performance Program.
This accolade, given by the NCAA, honors teams that have earned multiple APR scores in the Top 10 percent for the past four years. The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.
The Wildcat programs to receive the Public Recognition Awards are: baseball, men's basketball, football, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track (2015 and later), women's track (2015 and later), wrestling and volleyball.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 977 to a perfect 1,000.
