'Cats Host Holy Cross Tuesday to Start Busy Stretch

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson returns back to the lacrosse field this Tuesday evening after an eight-day break by playing host to Holy Cross as it continues its seven-game homestand at Richard Stadium. The Wildcats will play three games over the next eight days.
The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (1-2, 0-0 A-10) plays Holy Cross (0-5) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night under the lights. The 'Cats' seven-game homestand, which started Feb. 28 vs. Winthrop, is the longest since a six-game stretch at the beginning of the 2012 season.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
Davidson leads the series 2-0, which dates back to the 2002 season. It won the first meeting 6-5 at the Disney Complex and then hosted the Crusaders in 2004, scoring another one-goal victory by the score of 9-8.
Record Watch...
Emma Sissman moved up to seventh all-time in career goals after a four-goal outing to opening the season against Virginia Tech. She currently has 107 goals and needs 14 more to pass Haley Cook (2007-10) for sixth. In addition, Sissman is eight points (120) away from moving into the top-10 all-time, passing Erin Doherty who has 127.
The senior is already the all-time leader for draw controls, reaching the 200-mark in a victory at Kennesaw State, Feb. 20. She currently has an even 202 draw controls.
Fellow senior Holly Thomas is 14 caused turnovers away from reaching the top-10 all-time as she has 36 for her career.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Winthrop's Shannon Gallagher scored two of the Eagles' four second-half goals and Davidson was held to just one goal in the final 30 minutes as it fell 8-5 Sunday afternoon, Feb. 28, inside Richardson Stadium.
Both teams played to a 4-all tie in the first half, but Winthrop scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take the lead for good and remained perfect on the season at 4-0.
Four different Wildcats (1-2) scored on the afternoon, with Jean Atkinson and Kendall Thielemann each recording two points on a goal and an assist.
The Wildcats picked up a game-high 18 groundballs and were 18-for-19 on clear attempts. Three 'Cats recorded three or more groundballs, led by defender Mackenzie Sivilli's career-high four.
Goalie Dana Stasieluk record a personal-best three groundballs to go with her career-best five saves between the pipes.
Last Time Out..
HOLY CROSS — Nicole Grote tallied four goals and four assists for the Wildcats as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team fell to New Hampshire, 16-6, March 2.
Holy Cross took an early lead at the 28:37 mark of the first half. Junior Tess MacKay scored off a pass from senior MacKenzie Bozel. New Hampshire responded with seven goals led by Grote, who scored three to move ahead, 7-1, with 8:55 left in the first half. Holy Cross answered to make it 7-3 heading into halftime.
The Crusaders got the first goal of the second half to make it 7-4, but New Hampshire answered with nine straight goals to move out to a 16-4 lead and eventually the win.
