NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Davidson College placed 95 of an Atlantic 10 record 1,667 student-athletes on the 2015 Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Men's and women's cross country, and track and field combined for 21 student-athetes to pace the Wildcats. Next was the men's and women's swimming teams with a combined 17 on the list.
The 1,667 is the highest number of student-athletes that have qualified for the award since 2007 when the lists were regularly compiled. The total surpassing the 1,559 set during the 2015 spring semester. In addition, the 14 member institutions had an average 119 student-athletes qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, shattering last semester's record average of 111.3 honorees per institution. Both marks are the best single semester numbers of Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade's tenure.
To be listed on the bi-annual Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a 3.5 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the specified semester. Freshmen are eligible to receive the award.
Fordham had the most honorees with 153, followed by Massachusetts with 150 and Saint Louis with 144. A complete list of honorees is included with this release.
