Sidwell Named A-10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Jake Sidwell of the Davidson baseball team was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Sidwell led the Wildcats to a 4-1 week, sweeping Iona College and winning the opening A-10 series against UMass. The junior from Windermere, Fla., went 7-for-11 with six RBI for a .636 batting average and a .727 slugging percentage.
He helped the Wildcats to a 16-1 victory over Iona on Tuesday with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double, with two RBI and two runs scored. Sidwell then picked up three hits with two RBI on Friday to lead Davidson to a 10-2 win over UMass, before going 2-for-4 in the come-from-behind victory on Saturday.
Sidwell shares the honor with Saint Joseph's Deon Stafford and is the first Wildcat to receive a baseball weekly honor in the Atlantic 10.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday when they travel to No. 9 North Carolina for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
