'Cats Predicted to Finish Sixth in the A-10

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After finishing fourth in their inaugural season in the A-10 a year ago, the Davidson baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2016 Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, the league announced Thursday.
Saint Louis, which received seven first-place votes and 161 total points, was tabbed preseason favorites by the league's head coaches. 2015 Atlantic 10 Champion VCU was predicted to finish second, followed by Rhode Island, Richmond and George Washington, respectively.
The Wildcats were picked above Saint Joseph's, Fordham, George Mason and La Salle. Rounding out the bottom are Dayton, Massachusetts and St. Bonaventure.
Davidson returns five starters from last year's team that finished 28-22 overall and 14-10 in the conference. It also welcomes 14 newcomers to the squad.
The Wildcats open the 2016 season hosting 10 of their first 12 contests at Wilson Field, starting with Marist on Friday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
