FAIRFAX, Va. – Playing in his final collegiate contest, senior Maxi Pragnell netted a 79th minute penalty kick to lift Davidson over George Mason, 1-0, in both team's season finale Saturday evening.
Playing in their 10th contest (7 league) decided by one goal, the Wildcats conclude the 2016 campaign 4-12-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Atlantic 10.
In addition to finishing the regular season as the A-10 leader in goals (9) and total points (20), Pragnell concludes his standout career with 16 goals (5 game-winners), 17 assists and 49 total points.
George Mason (2-12-2, 0-7-1 A-10) held a slim 13-11 edge in shots, while both teams stopped two shots each. The Wildcats finished with a 9-7 margin in corner kicks and 3-2 advantage in shots on frame.
Pragnell led Davidson with three shots, while defenders Jordan Hill and Matt Reinikka attempted two each.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Kenneson led the defense recording his second clean sheet in a Wildcat uniform.

Coach Spear's Postgame Comments
I am so happy for the guys, especially the seniors. "You are as only as good as your last game" and to culminate with a win is tremendous.
Maxi continued his A-10 Conference leadership in goals scored, Andrew earned the shutout in the back and Christian Fechter was his trademark gritty, skillful force.
The team this year has impressed me with their sticking to the cause through eight one-goal losses including three in overtime to keep the passion, work ethic, commitment and unity at a premium. And that only happens with quality senior leadership.
This was our fourth tight match versus Mason in three seasons and after two overtime losses and a tie decided in penalty kicks, it was huge to break through in victory.
