WATERVILLE, IRELAND – Led by Spencer Papciak's one-over 73, Davidson sits second after round one of the 2016 Waterville Collegiate hosted by Rutgers University.
Papciak's season-low also puts him in a tie for second, two strokes off the lead.
The two-day / 36-hole event is being played at the Waterville Golf Links.
In addition to Davidson and the host Scarlet Knights, Atlantic 10 foe Richmond is also competing in the three-team field.
The Wildcats (300), who captured the 2012 Waterville Collegiate title, will enter tomorrow's final round eight shots behind the Spiders (292) and three clear of Rutgers (303).
Sophomores Mike Blasey and Jack Lang shot rounds of 75 and 76, respectively, while freshman Michael Freeman also turned in a four-over 76.
Will Simmons (80), Hoke Carlton (81), Andy Simmons (81) and Kevin Carlock (82) are also competing for the Wildcats.
Richmond's Matthew Lowe holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard following a one-under 71.
