DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore David Hager kept his personal singles win streak alive, but Davidson dropped a 6-1 decision to Gardner-Webb Sunday at home in men's tennis on the Davidson Tennis Courts.

Hager ran his win streak to four in a row dating back to the end of last season when he scored a straight set, 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles to pick up Davidson's (0-2) lone team point.

Gardner-Webb (1-2) opened the match with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles to earn the first team point. Then took singles wins at No. 1-4 and 6 to seal up the victory.

The Wildcat pair of J.B. Gough and Shamael Chaudhry netted their first doubles win together with a 7-5 win at No. 2.

Gough and Artem Khrapko pushed their opponents to three sets in singles action, but neither could finish off their matches to help Davidson score anymore team points. Gough won his first set, 6-4, at No. 4 singles, but then dropped 7-5 and 6-3 decisions in the next two sets.

Khrapko, playing No. 2 for the first time this year, split his first two sets, winning the second one 6-3 after opening with a 6-2 defeat. He then fell 6-4 in the final set.

Davidson plays its first road matches of the year, traveling to Greensboro, N.C., for a doubleheader vs. UNCG and North Carolina A&T, Feb. 6.
