
'Cats Record Plethora of Top Results at UNCG Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Competing in the UNCG Spartan Team Challenge, Davidson track and field posted a plethora of top-10 results at the JDL Fast Track, Sunday. Teams from Davidson, UNC Greensboro, Campbell, Elon, N.C. State, Savannah State, USC Upstate, and Wake Forest were represented in the meet.
Davidson posted 13 top-10 results.
The men's middle and long distance runners were a force to be reckoned with. In the 3,000-meter, Dylan Carmack and Michael Schroeder took second and third place, respectively. Carmack crossed the line in 8:55.92, while Schroeder clocked a 9:02.00.
In the one-mile, Davidson posted three top-10 results. Alex Herron was the first 'Cat to cross the line, finishing the race in 4:30.05. Amir Pappu wasn't far behind, taking fourth with a time of 4:30.29. First-year runner, Will Jones stopped the clock at 4:35.07 to take seventh place overall.
Ramsay Ritchie posted a third place finish in the half mile. Ritchie's pace of 1:59.38 was a personal best.
Senior Charles Rappe's pace of 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdles was good for third place overall. On the heels of Rappe was Sean Caveney, crossing the line in 8.66, to take fourth place. Jordan Marshall registered a ninth place finish with a time of 9.17.
Davidson earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the 200 meter event. Sophomore Jacob Hostetler took sixth overall with a time of 22.92. Xzavier Killings stopped the clock at 23.17 to take ninth overall.
Ben Corson led the way in the 400 with an 11th place finish, crossing the line in 52.53. Cole Reynolds (53.74) and Tommy May (54.58) took 15th and 20th place, respectively.
Gram Davis cleared 13-07.25 (4.15 meters) to take third in the pole vault, while Killings jump of 42-00.00 (12.80m) was good for fifth place.
The Davidson track and field team returns to action with a pair of meets Jan. 29-30. The Wildcats will compete in the Camel City Classic at the JDL Fast Track, while a contingent of Davidson runners will travel to the Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University.
