Strong Showing For Wildcats at ETSU Invite

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – A long holiday break didn't deter the Davidson men's track and field team from a strong outing at the 2016 Eastern Tennessee State University Invitational.
Highlighted by Patrick Rollo's first-place finish in the 800, Davidson finished the two-day with 15 top-15 finishes.
On the first day, Rollo claimed victory in the half mile after crossing the line in 1:54.69. Teammate Ben Corson wasn't far behind, finishing sixth overall with a time of 1:56.75.
In the 200 meter dash, sophomore Jacob Hostetler clocked a new program record with a time of 22.60. Hostetler ranked 29th overall.
Aaron Forburger and Dylan Carmack earned top-10 finishes for the Wildcats in the 5,000 meter event. Forburger claimed fourth place after posting a time of 15:18.72. Freshman Dylan Carmack earned 10th place after covering the distance in 15:40.61.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Charles Rappe posted a time of 8.61. Rappe ranked 13th in the preliminary round.
On the second day of competition, Davidson continued its strong showing.
Will Brewster, Daniel Samet and Ryan Phillips went 2-3-4 in the 3,000 meter seeded run. Brewster covered the distance in 8:29.93, while Samet posted a time of 8:32.27 and Phillips crossed in 8:33.90. Ian Robertson (8:43.57) and Ramsay Ritchie (8:48.32) finished in ninth and 11th places, respectively.
In the unseeded 3,000 meter event, three Wildcats earned top-10 finishes. Michael Schroeder led the way with a second place finish with a time of 9:04.32. Alex Herron wasn't far behind, taking sixth place after crossing the line in 9:13.18, while Will Jones earned an eighth place finish after posting a time of 9:15.16.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Davidson's team of Rappe, Sean Caveney, Corson and Rollo earned a ninth place finish. The foursome crossed in 3:23.83.
In the shot put, newcomer Brady Logan registered a throw of 46'6.75" to take fourth place overall. In the long jump, Xzavier Killings recorded a jump of 21'4.25" to take 17th place overall.
Davidson returns to action UNCG Spartan Team Challenge Jan. 24.
