Weekly Football Update From Paul Nichols
9/22/2015 9:39:00 AM | Football
Davidson head coach Paul Nichols will send out a weekly update every Tuesday that talks about the teams' progress throughout the season.
Wildcats,
I hope all is well with you. The Wildcats spent the bye week recruiting and improving ourselves. Our coaching staff was in 15 different states last Monday through Wednesday searching for men who will help improve our football program and Davidson College. While the staff was recruiting, our players lifted and focused on academics until our staff returned. We practiced Thursday and Friday in an effort to correct mistakes that took place during the first two games. We focused hard on fundamentals and developing our younger players.
On Sunday we returned to game week preparation. We head into an important week of the season, as we begin our conference schedule on the road against Morehead State. The Eagles are 1–2 overall, having just beat Kentucky Christian. They have a three-year starter at quarterback and a talented group of skilled players on offense. Defensively, they are stout on the defensive line and experienced in the secondary. This will be a huge challenge, as playing on the road is always difficult. We will depart Friday morning for Huntington, W.Va., where we will work out at Marshall University and spend the evening. Saturday morning we will leave for Morehead, Ky., and kickoff at 1 p.m.
We look forward to seeing many Wildcat fans in Morehead, Ky. As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to a great week.
Go 'Cats!
