DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's cross country team heads to Vanderbilt to participate in the Commodore Classic Saturday, Sept. 19. The 8K race will begin at 9 a.m.

About Davidson
Davidson returns eight student-athletes from the 2014 roster. Highlighted by all-conference selection Daniel Samet, the Wildcats will also benefit from the experience of upperclassmen such as Walker Mogen, Ryan Phillips, Patrick Rollo and Aaron Forburger. In addition to a strong returning cast, Davidson welcomes three newcomers in Will Brewster, Dylan Carmack and William Jones.

Last Time Out
In the opening race of the 2015 season, senior Ryan Phillips paced Davidson to a first-place finish at the Richmond Invitational Sept. 5. The Ridgewood, N.J., native finished the 5K course in 15:05.9 to claim the title and earned Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performer of the Week. Will Brewster crossed in 15:24.3 to take third, Daniel Samet covered the course in 15:37.7 to finish fourth and Ian Robertson rounded out the top-five finishers with a time of 15:48.3.

Scouting the Field
21 teams will compete at the Commodore Classic held at Percy Warner Park. No. 15 Ole Miss men highlight a competitive field that features teams from power conferences such as the SEC, ACC and the Big 10. In addition to the Rebels, Louisville, which is seventh in the Southeast Region, is also receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA national poll. The field also features five ranked teams from the South Region – MTSU (4), Georgia Tech (7) Lipscomb (9) Mississippi State (12) and Belmont (14) – along with Ohio State, which ranks 10th in the Great Lakes Region.
