DAVIDSON, N.C – In a contest that was nearly even across the board on a hot and humid day, Elon scored the only goal in the 93rd minute to send Davidson to a tough 1-0 overtime defeat Sunday afternoon in women's soccer at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats fell to 0-2 after the first weekend to start the 2015 season, while Elon grabbed their first win of the season.
Quick Hits About and From the Game:
• It was Davidson's fifth year in a row with back-to-back home games in its first weekend to open the season.
• Davidson and Elon had not played each other since 2013, both schools final year in the Southern Conference.
• The Phoenix have now won the last three straight meetings.
• The Wildcats held advantages of 9-8 and 4-2 on shots and corner kicks. But, only one of their shots went on goal.
• Tori Ballotti scored the game-winner off a corner kick at the 92:10 mark in overtime.
