DAVIDSON, N.C. – For the first time since 2007, Erin Osment will represent the Davidson women's track and field team at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Osment will compete in the 10,000-meter event scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 9:38 p.m., (ET). Osment is seeded 15th out of 24 runners. ESPNU will provide live coverage of the event.
Seeded 28th out of 48 runners in the east region, Osment ran a gusty race to finish 11th and earn a trip to college track's biggest stage. Osment, who has set and broken her own 10,000-meter record four times this season, clocked a 34.27.86.
Hailing from Atlanta, Ga., Osment has had a tremendous senior year, rewriting the record book during her final campaign.
In Davidson's inaugural appearance at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship, Osment was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer after earning two individual titles, including a conference crown in the 10,000-meter.
Osment battled to the top of the podium in the lengthy race with a time of 34:36.74, to set a new program record and qualify for a chance to compete in Jacksonville.
The senior distance runner now holds the school record in the indoor 3K and 5K, and the outdoor 3K, 5K and 10K.
Osment is the first Wildcat to advance to Euguene, Ore., since high jumper Kristen Meister competed at the 2007 NCAA Track & Field Championships. Action begins at Historic Hayward Field on Wednesday morning and runs through Saturday. The meet this year will feature a new schedule format designed to bring more attention to each gender and the team competitions.
