DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling team has been recognized as one of the top academic programs in the country by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced recently.
The Wildcats combined for a 3.114 GPA to rank 19th. It marks the first time since the award's inception that Davidson has landed in the top-20. Eastern Michigan led the nation with a 3.382 GPA, while Harvard (3.372), American (3.358), Gardner-Webb (3.352) and Brown (3.328) made up the top-five.
"I'm proud of these guys," said head coach Bob Patnesky. "To be ranked in the top-30 is a testament to their work ethic and dedication in the classroom. Achieving such a high team-wide GPA is a goal our guys strive for every year, and at a school like Davidson, it's quite the accomplishment."
