
Three Wildcats Garner All-Academic Accolades

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Whitner Chase, Walker Mogen and Daniel Samet of the Davidson men's track and field team were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team, the league announced Friday.
Athletes are eligible for the All-Academic Team if they earn a cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and must be a starter or important reserve.
Chase, a product of Windemere, Fla., saved his best for last. The senior claimed two top-five finishes at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, including his first-ever individual conference title. Chase raced to the top of the podium in the lengthy 10,000-meter with a time of 30:45.30 before turning in a 14:50.39 to take fourth in the 5,000-meter. Chase graduated with a degree in biology.
Mogen earned Davidson's second individual crown at the championships in the 5,000-meter event. The Radford Va., native crossed the line in 14:45.15 to finish first. At the Larry Ellis Invitational, Mogen clocked a career-best 14:20.84 in the event to finish 12th overall. The sophomore is studying history.
Hailing from Washington, D.C., Samet competed in the 10,000-meter and the 5,000-meter at the A-10 Championships. The junior wasn't far behind Chase in the 10,000-meter event, crossing the line in 30:56.17 to finish third. On the second day, Samet posted a time of 15:16.56 in the 5,000 to rank 12th overall. Samet is a history major.
