Chase Claims Title as Davidson Wraps Up Day One of A-10s

FAIRFAX, Va. – Whitner Chase claimed his first Atlantic 10 individual crown and Daniel Samet earned a third-place finish in the lengthy 10,000 meter event as the Davidson men's track and field team concluded day one of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship at George Mason Stadium.
Chase led the charge as the senior raced to the top of the podium, while Samet wasn't too far behind. Chase clocked a 30:45.30 to take the event. Samet turned in a time of 30:56.17.
Charles Rappe advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. The junior finished in 15.15 to take fifth in the 110 hurdles before posting a time of 54.34 in the 400 hurdles to move on to the finals of both events tomorrow.
Jacob Hostetler advanced to the finals of the 400-meter event after posting a 48.29 in the preliminaries. Hostetler finished fourth.
In the field events, Xzavier Killings took fourth-place. Killings jumped 22' 9¾" (6.95 meters). Aaron Forburger crossed the line in 9:38.55 to rank 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
"We had many great performances today, which started out with Jacob and Charles getting the job done and qualifying for finals tomorrow, and Xzavier placing well in the long jump," said Head Coach Renny Waldron. "This evening in the 10k, Whitney Chase and Daniel Samet ran a very gutsy race; we couldn't be more proud of them. It's a very special thing for Whitner to win the 10k in his senior year. They will come back tomorrow and give it their best as they compete 5k."
Davidson will return to the track for the final day of A-10 Championships at 10:30 a.m.
