DAVIDSON, N.C.
-- Despite 3-for-4 performances from first baseman David Daniels and second baseman Sam Foy, the Davidson baseball team fell to the Richmond Spiders, 18-4, in the regular season finale Saturday at Wilson Field.  
 
The Wildcats finished the regular season 26-20 and 14-10 in the A-10, which secures a No. 4 seed in the 2015 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship. Davidson will start its first-ever battle for an A-10 title Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. against No. 5-seed VCU (32-22, 14-10 A-10).

Richmond (27-23, 15-9 A-10) out hit the Wildcats, 16-10, while Davidson made the only error of the day. Second baseman Michael Morman led both squads with four hits, two runs scored and three RBI in six at bats for the Spiders.
 
In addition to their 3-for-4 day, Foy picked up a run scored, while Daniels recorded a homerun and two RBI. Daniels' 11th homerun of the season marked the sixth-straight game the Wildcats registered a homerun.
 
The Spiders started the day off hot, picking up eight runs off four hits, including a grand slam in the first. Richmond continued with the momentum and scored multiple runs in four more innings.
 
Davidson scored its first two runs off solo homeruns from Daniels and shortstop Alec Acosta. The freshman registered his first homer of his career in the fourth inning.
 
On the mound, seven Wildcats threw for Davidson, including RHP Nick Neitzel who faced the first six batters for the loss. RHP Matt Saeta completed the game for Davidson and was the third 'Cat to hold the Spiders scoreless.
 
Four Spiders appeared on the mound for Richmond, including LHP Dylan Stoops who pitched the first six innings and allowed three runs off seven hits with eight strikeouts for the win.
 
Davidson will travel to Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va., for the first round of the A-10 Championship Wednesday, May 20 to face VCU at 5 p.m.
