Menden Registered First-Place Finish at VertKlasse Meet

Day 1 Results
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Olivia Menden registered a first-place finish as the Davidson men and women's track and field team put forth a strong showing on the first day of the VertKlasse Meet, Friday.
Menden claimed victory in the 1,500-meter run as the junior crossed the line in 4:36.61. Davidson didn't have to wait long for its next finisher as freshman Sarah Sears raced to a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:44.68. Sierra Ponthier rounded out the Wildcats top-10 finishers with a 4:47.85 to rank eighth.
In the 5,000 meter, Hayden Bates took fifth-place. The sophomore crossed in 17:54.33. Grace Falken finished the race in 14th with a time of 18:43.51, while Helen Webster crossed the line in 18:55.94 to take 16th.
In the field events, Megan Comstock posted a fifth-place finish in the women's pole vault, while Anna Memoli took 11th in the high jump. Comstock posted a jump of 10' 11¾" (3.35m). Memoli leaped 4' 7¾" (1.42m). Stephanie Hautamma finished eighth in the pole vault clearing 11¾" (3.35m)
On the men's side, Davidson showcased its depth with four top-15 finishes in the 1,500 meter run.
Ian Robertson posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 3:56.00, while Ramsay Ritchie crossed the line in 3:56.27 to rank 10th. Senior Sal del Giudice (3:57.28) and junior Ryan Phillips (3:57.37) finished 12th and 13th respectively.
In the javlin, sophomore Jonathan Campbell registered a throw of 154' 3" (47.03m) to place 10th.
The Wildcats return to Dick Vert Stadium Saturday for day two of the VertKlasse Meet.
