Golf Set for First A-10 Championship

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After 67 Southern Conference Tournament appearances, Davidson will take part in its first-ever Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship this weekend at the Harmony Golf Preserve just outside Orlando, Fla.
The three-day/54-hole event will begin Friday morning at 7:30 a.m.
Under the direction of Tim Straub, who is in his 15th season at the helm, the Wildcats enter the event as the A-10's third seed behind 2014 Champion VCU and runner-up Richmond.
In addition to three Top-10 finishes, including a season-best fifth-place showing at the Fighting Irish Classic, Davidson is led by senior Todd Eckstein, who enters with a 73.44 stroke average.
A native of Durham, N.C., Eckstein has competed in 34 career events, while posting six Top-10s, including back-to-back seventh-place finishes this season.
David Sargent (75.12 stroke average), Andy Simmons (76.44), Ralph Blasey (76.50) and Spencer Papciak (77.32) will also be in the starting lineup.
The winner of the event will receive the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
