CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Davidson's strong season came to an end in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship as it fell 4-2 to fifth-seeded Fordham Friday morning at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
The fourth-seeded Wildcats close out their best season since 2010 with a 12-10 record, including winning their first-ever A-10 Tournament match against St. Bonaventure.
The doubles came down to the top spot, with the Rams (13-6) prevailing 8-4 to grab the first team point. Fordham grabbed a 2-0 lead after Sarah Stein was forced to return to No. 4 singles, but Sexton and Feaster tied it up with singles wins at No. 1 and 6, respectively. Sexton finished the year 5-5, scoring her second win in a row with a 6-3, 6-4 decision.
Feaster capped off her great first year with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top spot to finished 16-6 in singles play.
Davidson's season ended though when the Rams earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 over Elaina Cummer and then a three-set match over Ava Todd at the No. 3 spot. Todd won the first set 6-2, but Estelle Wong came back to earn a 7-5 second-set victory and closed out the match with a 6-2 decision.
