
‘Cats Return Home After Eight Road Games To Host Dayton

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team is set to host Dayton for an A-10 weekend series starting Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday game times are set for 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

THE SERIES
• This is the first meeting between the two teams.
THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats enter the weekend 15-15 overall and 5-7 in the A-10 after their two mid-week games were canceled due to rain. Davidson got in 4.1 innings at Wake Forest before the contest was called when the two teams were tied at three.
• Outfielder Lee Miller leads the squad with a .350 batting average with 17 runs, 41 hits and 27 RBI in 117 at bats. Second baseman Sam Foy and first baseman David Daniels follow with a .296 batting average.
• On the mound, RHP Clark Beeker leads the team with a 4.30 ERA, allowing 69 hits, 44 runs and has 53 strikeouts in 58.2 innings pitched. Beeker pitched eight innings this past Friday for the lone Wildcat win at Fordham over the weekend.
• The Wildcats return home Wednesday after its longest road trip of the season, a nine-game road swing spanning over 16 days.
THE FLYERS
• The Flyers enter the weekend 11-24 overall and 2-10 in the A-10. Dayton snapped a five-game losing streak as it has won the past two contests, including its most recent victory over Akron. The Flyers' two A-10 wins came against La Salle and VCU.
• Infielder Sergio Plasencia leads the squad with a .274 batting average with 18 runs, 37 hits and 18 RBI in 135 at bats. Outfielder Mitch Coughlin is the lone Flyer over .300, as he has six runs and three hits in nine at bats for a .333 average.
• RHP Noah Buettgen leads the squad with a 4.17 ERA, allowing 64 hits, 35 runs and has 40 strikeouts in 45.1 innings pitched with a record of 2-4. Buettgen is projected to start on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
• Davidson fell to Fordham, 6-2, in the final game of the weekend series Sunday afternoon at Houlihan Park for the Rams second win of the series.
• Fordham scored the first five runs on four hits in the first four innings, which eventually secured the contest. The Wildcats outhit Fordham, 7-5, but committed two errors.
• Right fielder Mark Donadio went 4-for-4 for the second-straight day and picked up two RBI to lead both teams. Right fielder Lee Miller and center fielder Ty Middlebrooks both picked up homeruns to lead Davidson.
• RHP Ben Greenberg pitched all nine innings for the Rams and held the 'Cats to just two runs off seven hits with four strikeouts. Four Wildcats threw for Davidson with RHP and designated hitter Ryan Lowe starting the first four innings, allowing five runs off four hits with two strikeouts for the loss.
