Ponthier Claims Victory at the Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Davidson women's track and field team showed its depth at distance events with three top-10 finishes at the 2015 Winthrop Adidas Track & Field Invitational Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track Complex.
Sierra Ponthier highlighted the trio of finishes as the freshman collected a victory in the 1,500 meter run. Ponthier raced to a first place finish in a time of 4:46.39. Teammate Hayden Bates was the next Wildcat to finish, clocking a 4:48.07 to take fourth place. Freshman Eliza Lawless took 13th with a time of 4:55.44.
Caroline Turner also collected a top-10 finished in the 5,000 meter run. The sophomore finished ninth with a time of 17:59.78.
In the pole vault, Molly Marshall took 12th, while freshman Stephanie Hautamaa finished in 13th. Marshall jumped 3.20 meters and Hautamaa 3.05 meters.
