Strong Showing for Davidson at 49ers Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In the first weekend of the outdoor season, the Davidson men's track and field team had a strong showing at the 49ers Classic.
Sal del Giudice earned a top-five finish in the 800-meter. The senior crossed the line in a quick 1:54.14 to take fifth, just .06 seconds behind fourth-place. Ryan Phillips clocked a 1:56.51 to take 14th place.
Aaron Forburger finished ninth in the 5,000-meter event. The junior clocked a 15:01.34.
In the 400-meter hurdles preliminaries, Charles Rappe took eighth in 55.05 to qualify for the finals. The junior then finished seventh in the finals, with a time of 55.29.
In the 4x400, the quartet of Francis Corson, del Giudice, Jacob Hostetler and Patrick Rollo finished 10th. The Davidson squad clocked a 3:23.24.
In the field events, Chris Powell took 10th in the triple jump. He jumped 42'7" (12.98 meters), while Jonathan Campbell earned 10th in the javelin with a toss of 157'9" (48.10 meters). Xzavier Killings placed 16th in the long jump, with a jump of 21' 4¼"
(6.51 meters).
The track and field team will return to action March 28-29 at the Raleigh Relays.
