DAVIDSON, N.C. — In partnership with Northwestern Mutual of North Charlotte, Davidson College athletics honored senior Emily Cooke of the women's lacrosse team on Feb. 21, 2015, as part of the Northwestern Mutual Student-Athlete spotlight.
Cooke, a native of Woodstock, Md., is the second of four Wildcat student-athletes that will be honored this year. Matt Pacifici of the men's soccer team was the first to be honored on Feb. 11.
The senior has excelled on the field as well as off it. As an attacker, Cooke already holds the program's all-time record for career assists at 111 and is currently third all-time in total points with 182. She is just four away from moving into second place ahead of Amanda Fleck.
Cooke was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Year in 2013 when she set Wildcat single-season records for assists (55) and points (87). In addition, Cooke also set a new single-game record that year with 10 assists and tied the single-game mark for points with 11 during a win at Kennesaw State on Feb. 25, 2013.
A two-time all-conference pick, Cooke earned Davidson's first-ever Atlantic 10 Player of the Week in lacrosse, Feb. 16, after leading the 'Cats to a 21-4 season-opening home win vs. Kennesaw State. The senior registered eight points in the victory, scoring twice and assisting on another six goals.
In the classroom, she carries a 3.47 grade point average and will graduate this May with a degree in political science.
The Davidson women's lacrosse team takes to the road for the first time, playing at Old Dominion to open up the month of March.
