Golf Set to Open Spring Season in Alabama

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Under the direction of Tim Straub, who is in his 15th year at the helm, Davidson will open its 2015 spring season Monday at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The 54-hole / two-day event will be played on the Par-72, 7,160-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings layout, beginning with a Monday morning shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round will also tee off at 8:30 a.m., but from the 1st and 10th tees.
In addition to Davidson, No. 22 Auburn, Belmont, Illinois State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas State and Western Kentucky will make up the 15-team field.
Ralph Blasey, Todd Eckstein, Alex Nianouris, David Sargent and Andy Simmons will be in the starting lineup for the Wildcats, while freshman Spencer Papciak will compete as an individual.
Highlighted by a 10th place finish at the Camden Collegiate Invitational, Eckstein paced the Wildcats during the fall season with a 72.81 stroke average.
