Strong Showing for 'Cats at JDL Fast Track College Kickoff

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Davidson men's track and field team kicked off the 2015-16 indoor season Saturday, with a strong showing at the JDL Fast Track Invitational.
Xzavier Killings set a new program mark in the long jump, registering a fifth place finish with a mark of 22'7.25", while Patrick Rollo raced to a new school record in the 500-meter event after clocking a 1:06.40 to place ninth.
Davidson showcased their depth in the distance events, as the Wildcats earned five top-10 finishes in the 3,000-meter event and the one-mile.
First, in the 3,000, Alex Herron led the way, crossing in 9:08.76 to take third. Michael Schroeder (9:15.20) and Will Jones (9:18.87) to take fifth and sixth place, respectively.
In the one-mile, Ian Robertson earned a second place finish with a time of 4:19.67. On the heels of Robertson was Ramsay Ritchie, crossing the line in 4:25.05 to take third.
Davidson also benefited from a strong showing in the field events.
In addition to Killings' new school mark, teammate Jordan Marshall recorded a jump of 19"4.25' to take 21st overall. Newcomer Brady Logan earned a second place finish in the shot put with a toss of 46'1.25". In the pole vault, Gram Davis placed seventh after clearing 13'1.50."
The Wildcats, paced by Rollo's record-setting performance, earned three top-20 finishes in the 500. Ben Corson (1:08.39) and Charles Rappe (1:09.22) finished 15th and 16th, respectively.
In the 300-meter event, Killings led the way with a 17th place finish after posting a time of 36.98. Cole Reynolds clocked a 37.15 to place 19th, while Sean Caveney ranked 25th with a time of 37.43.
The foursome of Ben Corson, Ritchie, Robertson and Rollo placed eighth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:33.26.
The Wildcats return to action Jan. 16-17 at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational.
