2015 Academic All-PFL Awards
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Senior offensive lineman Josh Daryoush and sophomore running back Jeffrey Keil of the Davidson football team earned 2015 Academic All-Pioneer Football League honors, the league announced Wednesday.
Daryoush, who was named to the Academic All-District III team for the second-straight year last month, earned his second-straight Academic All-PFL First Team honor, while Keil was placed on the second team.
Pursuing a pre-medicine track, Daryoush was a crucial member of the Davidson offensive line. The Bethesda, Md., native ended his career on a 32-game start streak as he started all 11 games at right tackle this season.
The 2014 PFL Offensive Freshman of the Year, Keil battled through injury this season but still led the Wildcats with 303 yards on 90 carries with three touchdowns in nine games. The Tampa, Fla., native also caught seven passes for 59 yards to earn his first Academic All-PFL honor.
The Academic All-PFL teams are a complement to the Capital One Academic All-America® program presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Eleven PFL student-athletes were named to their respective Capital One Academic All-District Teams® this fall. The 2015 Capital One Academic All-America Teams® will be announced Thursday.
Pioneer Football League athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL squads in 1993 as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and reached their second season both athletically and academically at his current institution.
