DAVIDSON, N.C. – Senior Josh Daryoush of the Davidson football team was named to the 2015 Academic All-District III First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) announced Thursday.
As a first team selection, Daryoush is eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America team. The offensive lineman was named Academic All-District last season and became the 10th Wildcat football player to earn the honor twice.
Daryoush, a Bethesda, Md., native pursuing a pre-medicine track, is a crucial member of Davidson's offensive line who has started all eight games at right tackle this season.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 18,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
Davidson heads to Jacksonville, Fla., to face the Dolphins Saturday at 1 p.m. at D.B. Milne Field.
