Sykes Named PFL Co-Defensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Sophomore Thomas Sykes of the Davidson football team was named the Pioneer Football League's Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Sunday.
Sykes overtime interception helped the Wildcats end a 15-game drought with a 14-7 victory against Kentucky Wesleyan, Saturday. With Kentucky Wesleyan facing 4th-and-2 from the Davidson 17-yard line, Sykes' interception in the end zone ended the contest. He also recovered a fumble and was part of a quarterback sack in a five-tackle outing against the Panthers.
Sykes is the first Davidson player to be named a Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week since September 22, 2012 when Patrick Moynahan won the award.
Sykes shares the award with Dayton's linebacker Jack Crain.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday when they travel to Butler for a 1 p.m. kick.
