CHAPEL HILL – The Tar Heel Intercollegiate men's golf tournament that was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (October 3-4) has been canceled due to Hurricane Joaquin, which is scheduled to move up the Atlantic Ocean coastline this weekend.
In addition to Davidson, the Tar Heels were to host 12 other schools in a 54-hole event at UNC Finley Golf Course.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rains and possible hurricane-like conditions to the Triangle through the weekend.
The tournament will not be rescheduled. Davidson will return to the course Oct. 12-13 at the Auto Trader Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State in Atlanta, Ga.
