Paddon Breaks Mile Record at Hilton Garden Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The distance runners registered a strong showing on the second day of the Hilton Garden Invitational, as junior Sarah Paddon broke the Davidson school record in the Mellow Mushroom Mile.
Paddon turned in a 4:55.82 mile to set a new program record. Paddon placed 12th among a competitive field compromised of professional and collegiate athletes.
Prior to Paddon's performance, junior Olivia Menden and freshman Sarah Sears turned in strong performances in the one-mile event. Each of the two student-athletes set new personal records to earn top-five finishes. Menden crossed the line in 5:04.64 to take fourth, while Sears finished less than one second later with a time of 5:05.27 to take fifth.
The Wildcats return to action Feb. 6-7 for the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
