DAVIDSON, N.C. — Returning home for the first time since Dec. 7, the Davidson women's basketball team looks to ring in the new calendar year by beginning its first season in the Atlantic 10 with three straight home games starting Sunday, Jan. 4, against La Salle at 2 p.m. in John M. Belk Arena.
After their first-ever A-10 game Sunday, the Wildcats will also host Dayton (Jan. 7) and Rhode Island (Jan. 11) during the three-game stretch at home.
OPENING TIP: Quick Hits ...
•Davidson is in its 36th season and reached the 400-win mark, Nov. 20, at Gardner-Webb.
•The 'Cats moved to the Atlantic 10, July 1, 2014, after a 21-year run in the Southern Conference.
•The Wildcats were picked to finish 12th in the A-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
•Davidson returns seven letterwinners and four of its five starters from last year's 16-16 team.

•A three-pointer by Alexandra Long got the Wildcats within one at 59-58, but their shot at winning it fell short on their last shot attempt of the game by Timpton.

•The Explorers' latest victory came Dec. 30 at home against UMBC, a 65-62 win.
•They have also defeated Georgia State and Fairfield during the winning streak.
•In the win vs. UMBC, La Salle led for all but six minutes of the game, but needed two free throws in the last 4.3 seconds to seal the win.
•Micahya Owens led the Explorers with 17 points, 13 of which came in the second half.
•Alicia Cropper added 15 points and seven rebounds, and Siobhan Beslow pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and chipped in six points.
