DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson men's and women's tennis programs recently unveiled to the student-athletes their newly renovated locker rooms in the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center as announced by head coaches Drew Barrett and Sara Anundsen.
"I'm very excited and grateful for the new locker rooms," said Barrett, entering his ninth season at Davidson. "I can't thank enough the alumni and parents who donated the money for the teams. These lockers are as good as any in the country and we are proud to have them."
The lockers were renovated for the players as they move from the Stowe Tennis House where their team locker rooms originally were to the Knobloch Tennis Center. This is in addition to the new tennis courts that are being built behind Baker Sports Complex. Athletic donor money was used to transform the locker rooms, which each have brand new built-in lockers, a study area as well as a lounge section.
"The new locker rooms have been an incredible addition to our program," said women's head coach Anundsen. "They are first class giving the girls a place to store their equipment, have team meetings, study and spend time together. The new locker rooms and courts will be instrumental in recruiting and I just want to thank Drew and everyone involved in completing the facility and improving the college experience for our athletes!"
In addition to the locker rooms, the new tennis court construction is underway. For more information on the new courts, click on here to be redirected to the "Construction of New Tennis Courts."
The Wildcat tennis Fall season gets underway with the men's team opening at the Georgia Invite, Sept. 12-15, while the women will start at the Wake Forest Invitational, Oct. 3-5.
