DAVIDSON, N.C. — Adam Denton was promoted to assistant coach for the Davidson women's soccer program, as announced today by head coach Greg Ashton.
Denton, who joined the Wildcats in 2013, brings a deep background in coaching and playing. He was the Girls Director of Coaching for the Lake Norman Soccer Club (LNSC), coaching and developing girls from 9-18 years old, while directing the Atlantic Soccer League for 14-17 year olds.
"I'm thrilled to have Adam join our coaching staff," said Ashton, who will be entering his 11th season. "Adam has been working to prepare high-level club players to join the college ranks. Now he gets to further that development of players at the college level. He brings a tremendous knowledge and passion for the game and we're extremely fortunate to have a coach of his experience join our program."? ?
Prior to his working with the LNSC, Denton was the Elite Club National League Director of Coaching in Charlotte, N.C., from 2009-2013. He was also part of the Charlotte Soccer Club as a director/coach from 2003-2009. ?

Denton was a standout player in college at Wingate. He broke onto the college scene by winning the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 1997. He went on to be All-SAC and All-Region each of his four years, while earning All-American honors in 1999. Denton graduated from Wingate in 2001 with a bachelor of science in sports management.
A native of Liverpool, England, Denton played three years of professional soccer. He played with the Everton FC in his hometown from 1995-1997. He currently holds coaching licenses of USSF "A", NSCAA Premier Diploma and UEFA "B".
Davidson begins a new era this year when it moves to the Atlantic 10 for the 2014 season. The 'Cats' season starts with a four-game homestand, beginning August 22 vs. Winthrop at 7 p.m.
