BLACKSBURG, Va. - Senior Andrew Lantz placed second in the 1,500-meter run in 3 minutes, 48.77 seconds at the Hokie Twilight Qualifier Sunday on the campus of Virginia Tech.
Lantz's performance ranks in the all-time top-10 at Davidson.
The senior is awaiting Thursday's announcement as to whether he will advance to the NCAA East Region Championships in the 800-meter run. His top time of 1:49.76 currently ranks 54th in the event, so he will need at least six runners to not declare for the event.
Those who have been accepted to compete in each preliminary championships competition will be announced on Thursday, May 22.
The 2014 NCAA East Region Championships will be contested May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by the University of North Florida. The Top 12 runners in each event advance to the finals hosted by the University of Oregon, June 11-14.
