2014 NFF Hampshire Society Honorees
IRVING, Texas – Graduating Davidson football players Seth Beeson and Chris Gorman were named to the 2014 National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced Tuesday, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.
A total of 838 players from 267 schools qualified for membership in the society's eighth year, setting a new record for the number of members in the history of the program, which began in 2007.
Beeson, an offensive lineman for Lexington, N.C., saw action in eight games this past season and was a four-time selection to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll.
Gorman, a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, started his Davidson career as a running back until injuries did not allow him to continue at the position. He finished his career as a kickoff specialist as a senior, earning a place on the PFL All-Academic team. He totaled 654 yards and two touchdowns on 146 rushing attempts in his career, and ranked eighth in the PFL in rushing as a sophomore. He was named to Phil Steele's 2012 Preseason All-Pioneer First Team before his junior season, which was abbreviated by injury. He was also a four-time selection to the PFL Academic Honor Roll.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include: Being a starter or a significant substitute at an accredited NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, or an NAIA college or university; Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and Meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements and graduation.
