Golf Set to Host 2014 Davidson College Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a two-week break from tournament action, the Davidson men's golf team returns to the links March 3-4 when they host the 2014 Davidson College Invitational at River Run Country Club.
In addition to the host Wildcats, the 14-team field will feature Drexel, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Holy Cross, Kent State, La Salle, Longwood, Marshall, Presbyterian, Radford, St. Bonaventure, Tennessee and Wofford.
Davidson, which captured the team title a year ago, has posted a pair top-five finishes and three Top-10s through five events this season.
Two-time NCAA participant Richard Fountain leads the Wildcats with a 71.73 stroke average, while last year's individual medalist Sam Echikson, is second on the club at 72.60.
Due to expected cold temperatures, the two-day event has been shortened to 36 holes beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start Monday. The final round will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The event will be played on the Par 72, 7,208-yard River Run Country Club layout.
