DAVIDSON, N.C. – Qualifiers, seeds and brackets for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, which will take place next week in Oklahoma City, Okla., were announced by the NCAA Wednesday evening. Davidson's Scott Patrick and Kevin Birmingham will take part in the event after qualifying at last week's Southern Conference Championships.

Patrick (21-3), who earned his bid by winning the SoCon title at 184 pounds, will face No. 8 TJ Dudley of Nebraska. Dudley, who enters with a 26-5 record, is a redshirt freshman that boasts wins over national qualifiers No. 10 Kenny Courts of Ohio State, Lazarus Reyes of Illinois and Blake Stauffer of Arizona State. The winner of the bout will face either No. 9 Dominic Abounader of Michigan or Arizona State's Stauffer.

Birmingham (20-8) is set to square off with Hofstra's Cody Ruggirello. A redshirt junior, Ruggirello will also be taking part in his first NCAA Championship and earned his bid with a fourth-place finish at the EIWA Championships. Ruggirello enters the match up 25-9 and shares four common opponents with Birmingham. Both earned wins over VMI's Shabaka Johns, as Birmingham claimed a 9-7 sudden victory in a conference match in January while Ruggirello pinned Johns in 1:32. Both Birmingham and Ruggirello defeated Boston University's Nick Tourville, this time with Birmingham winning by fall and Ruggirello taking a 7-0 decision. The two have also faced Ohio State's Ian Paddock and North Carolina's Christian Barber. The winner will face Lehigh's Mitchell Minotti.

The SoCon runner-up at 149 pounds, Birmingham has faced seven of the qualifiers in his weight class. He has defeated Matt Frisch of The Citadel twice, and boasts pins of Frisch, Justin Arthur of Clarion and Alexander Richardson of Old Dominion. Birmingham has also faced Mike Morales of West Virginia and Appalachian State's Dylan Cottrell in addition to UNC's Barber and OSU's Paddock. Patrick has faced fellow qualifiers Jack Dechow of ODU and Pitt's Max Thomuseitt.

The 2014 NCAA National Championships will take place March 20-22 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. First-round bouts will start Thursday morning, with winners advancing to the second round Thursday night. Those who do not advance will take part in Thursday evening's wrestlebacks.
