Records Fall for Wildcats at HPU Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A pair of Wildcats came away with program records as the Davidson women's track & field team participated in the High Point Team Challenge at the JDL Fast Track Thursday evening.
Brigid Behrens set a new program mark in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:16.55 for fourth place. Hannah Rieden was close behind in fifth, running a time of 2:17.59. Kate Kostecky took 10th in the event, finishing in 2:24.50 while Rachel McKay ran a 2:29.39. Maggie Rickard finished in 21st in 2:35.40.
Molly Marshall also set a new Davidson record, finishing with a mark of 3.21-meters in the pole vault. She claimed fourth in the event.
The distance medley relay of Ashlyn Gruber, Grace Watt, Morgan McGrath and Erin Osment took second place to kick off the meet, teaming for a time of 12:29.00.
Five Wildcats ran the 3,000-meter run, led by Sarah Paddon's 11th-place finish in 10:21.02. Hayden Bates was 18th in 10:50.13, followed by Jenny Fritz in 19th at 10:52.12. Caroline Turner ran a 10:55.60 to finish 21st, while Lauren Carter was 22nd in 11:48.01.
Behrens, Gruber and Rieden then joined Watts for a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, combining for a time of 4:05.60. McGrath, Rickard, Kostecky and Rickard took sixth in the event in a time of 4:22.49.
The Wildcats will return to Winston-Salem next weekend for the UCS Invitational Feb. 14-15 as a final tune up before the 2014 SoCon Indoor Championships.
