SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson wrestler Kevin Birmingham has been tabbed the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Davidson opened the 2014-15 season at the Maryland Duals with a 2-1 record, sandwiching a loss to the host, 36-9, around wins over Alderson-Broaddus 31-0 and John Hopkins, 47-6.
Birmingham started off his senior campaign with three pins. The Sicklerville, N.J., native first pinned Alderson-Broaddus's Jason West before taking down Ben Dorsey of Maryland and Johns Hopkins' Tommy Grifa.
The honor is the second of Birmingham's career.
Davidson opens its home slate Friday night at 7 p.m., as the Wildcats welcome cross-town rival Belmont Abbey to Belk Arena.
