Latt Earns First A-10 Rookie of the Week For Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Coming off an impressive three-game week, freshman Mackenzie Latt was tabbed the first Davidson women's basketball Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office Monday. She joined Fordham's Emily Tapio as the conference's players of the week for Nov. 17-24.
In addition, the Wildcat freshman was named the A-10 College Sports Madness Player of the Week.
A native of Kalamazoo, Mich., Latt helped guide Davidson to a 2-1 record last week by nearly averaging a double-double. The freshman paced the team for the week by averaging 17 points and nine rebounds, while dishing out seven assists and blocking five shots. She also registered her second and third double-doubles already of the season in wins at Gardner-Webb, Nov. 20, and home against Mount St. Mary's, Nov. 23. The forward for the week also shot an impressive 61.8 percent from the floor, going 21-of-34.
Latt started the week off with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting vs. Southern Cal. She then led Davidson to a 68-67 road win at Gardner-Webb with team season highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while scoring the tying and go-ahead buckets.
The freshman had the best shooting night of any Wildcat this season, going 10-for-14 from the floor. Latt capped the solid week off with another double-double, getting 14 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday's win vs. Mount St. Mary's.
Through the first four games to start the year, Latt paces the team in scoring (15.5 ppg), rebounding (9.8 rpg), field goal percentage (.591, 26-44), minutes (32.8 mpg) and total blocks (7). She also ranks second in the A-10 with her 9.8 rebounding averaging and fourth overall in points per game.
Davidson wraps up a busy past few days with a home contest against High Point Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m.
