Madness 2013 Preseason Pioneer All-Conference Teams
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Led by seniors Reese Williams and Adam Kurtz on the first team, a total of four Davidson student-athletes were named to the College Sports Madness 2013 Pioneer Football Preseason All-Conference Team, the website announced Wednesday.
Junior offensive lineman Nelson White and senior linebacker Ben Prater were both named to the third team.
Williams (Abilene, Texas/Abilene Cooper), who earned the same honor from Phil Steele's last week, had a breakout season last year and earned first-team all-conference honors. He hauled in a career-best 51 receptions for 522 yards to rank second on the team in both categories and 11th and 13th, respectively, in the PFL. His top performance came in an overtime win at Valparaiso, in which he caught 10 passes for 131 yards to earn the College Football Performance Awards National Tight End of the Week award.
Kurtz (Kinnelon, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) was an All-PFL honorable mention on Davidson's offensive line last season, starting all 11 games. He anchored the unit which helped the Wildcat offense rank 15th in FCS football in passing offense (291.3 yds/gm).
White (Concord, N.C./ Jay M. Robinson) also started all 11 games last season and helped Kurtz anchor the offensive line. Prater (Signal Mountain, Tenn./ Baylor H.S.) ranked fifth on the team with a career-high 54 tackles in 2012, making 10 starts.
